Eric Harr Social Media

December 9, 2009 - The day that changed the world forever. We believe this marked the biggest game-changer in the (short) history of social media. Google, which probably knows more about how people behave online and what the Web’s future holds, pushed in all its chips and bet big on…social media. By indexing Tweets, posts, etc at the top of Google’s search results, it puts the power squarely in your hands. Google made a smart bet, because they’re betting on people. During the attacks in Mumbai, people were Tweeting it live, from the lobby of the hotel…while the CNN trucks were gassing up and heading over. The news was being delivered, in real time, by the people. Do you see that this represents the most seismic shift in the history of media…and possibly of business? There are no more gatekeepers. You hold the key. What an exciting time to be alive.
